Newcastle United confirm deadline day deal has been completed as Jamaal Lascelles leaves club after 12 years

Newcastle United's one piece of deadline day business has finally been confirmed by the club this morning.

Just before midday, Newcastle United confirmed that Jamaal Lascelles had completed his move to Leicester City before the 7 pm deadline on Monday.

Eddie Howe had spoken about Lascelles in his press conference, all but confirming the news this morning, but now the club has officially acknowledged the departure of our club captain.

The 32-year-old made just two appearances for Newcastle this season and now heads off for a new chapter.

The Newcastle United website says Jamaal Lascelles was one of the club's great leaders.

"Defender Jamaal Lascelles has completed a permanent switch to Leicester City, bringing an end to an outstanding decade at St. James' Park.

"The 32-year-old centre-back departs as one of the great leaders of the club's recent history, captaining the Magpies from the Championship to the Champions League during his 253 appearances."

Jamaal Lascelles is raring to go at Leicester City

Speaking to the Leicester city website, Lascelles says he can't wait to get going with the Foxes.

“I’m just buzzing to get through the door. It’s a great set-up here, a huge Club, the facilities are fantastic. I just can’t wait to help out as much as I can, try and push up the league, and meet all the boys tomorrow (Tuesday).

“I’m definitely going to add high standards, professionalism… for me, they’re non-negotiable. It’s the one per cents every day, dragging myself and other people on board and just keeping high standards."
