Eddie Howe has been under pressure as Newcastle United boss this past week, and last night's win went a long way to easing some of that.

Before the game against Tottenham Hotspur, Eddie Howe insisted he was still the right man for the job, saying that if he didn't believe that, he wouldn't be here.

Howe has had spells as Toon boss where he's felt some pressure, but with some fans booing the team off the field on Saturday, it felt like this would be Howe's biggest test yet.

Wins away from home have been difficult to come by this season, and nobody was really expecting one last night, so when the players delivered, everyone was elated.

Jamie Reuben showed his support for Eddie Howe

Any notion that Howe had lost the dressing room was banished last night too, as the celebrations on the pitch proved that the players still back their manager, and so do the owners, it seems.

Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben didn't need words to make his feelings known as he posted an image of Eddie Howe celebrating in front of the fans last night along with a red heart emoji.

Nothing else needed to be said, it's clear that Howe has the support of Jamie Reuben and as he's the owner closest to the club these days, it's safe to assume that Eddie Howe is going nowhere.,

What a difference a win makes

It was only one win, but the difference it has made to the general mood was massive. There seems to be cohesion again between the board, the manager, the players and more importantly, the fans.

Obviously, we're not suggesting that the Howe Out brigade have changed their mind overnight, they will take a lot more convincing than just one win away to a shockingly bad Spurs side, but they might have a day off, who knows?

It's FA Cup duty on Saturday away to Aston Villa, and now that the Carabao Cup dream is over, we should really be going for this one, but at the same time ... do we really need more fixtures?
