It was about as comfortable as can be for Newcastle United at St James' Park tonight as Bradford City put up very little opposition for the Magpies.

When the draw for the third round was made, it did look like Newcastle had been handed an easy path to the fourth round, drawing League One opposition at home, and that proved to be the case.

At times tonight, Newcastle made it look like a training match as they passed the ball through the Bradford side with ease, for the most part, anyway.

Bradford were given a consolation goal and it came via the boot of lifelong Newcastle United fan, Andy Cook, who won his race to be fit in time to live his dream of playing at St James' Park.

Joelinton and Will Osula took turns in finding the net

Joelinton and Will Osula were the goal heroes for Newcastle United, alternating between them to put the ball in the net.

The Brazilian opened the scoring in 17 minutes, only for Osula to double the lead two minutes later.

Newcastle had to wait until late in the second half to score again despite their relentless dominance, and it was Joelinton once again with a tidy finish to make it three.

Bruno Guimaraes was absolutely incredible tonight

Andy Cook's rifled finish in off the bar on 79 minutes brought one back for the Bantams, but Will Osula put the tie to bed on 87 minutes with his second of the game, and third of the season.

Bruno Guimaraes can count himself unlucky not to have been on the scoresheet tonight, as he was dangerous from start to finish and probably our call for player of the match, despite the two lads with two goals each.

It wasn't a great night for Lewis Miley again, who played some poor passes which put the Magpies in trouble a few times, with his attempted clearance cut out leading to Bradford's goal. However, beyond those few passes, he did look solid. We're only really mentioning it because we've already seen people on social media saying how poor he was - he really wasn't all that bad, it was just that his mistakes were the ones that led to danger.

Nick Woltemade looks like an absolute class act, by the way. He never really came close to scoring tonight after he came on, but his hold-up play and his passing into dangerous areas are a sight to behold. He's going to be quality for us going forward.
