It's not all about Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Yoane Wissa at Newcastle United right now, as other deals are still being worked on in the background.

Newcastle still have a few positions they want to fill this summer with a goalkeeper, central defender and striker yet to materialise.

However, while the recruitment team works on those first-team arrivals, there is still work being done identifying and bringing in young talent to develop in the academy.

After already bringing in highly-rated and much sought-after teenager, Antonio Cordero this summer, Newcastle have moved to add more young talent to their ranks.

Park Seung-soo is heading to Newcastle

South Korean teenager dubbed the 'Korean Mbappe' is set to join Newcastle United

South Korean sensation Park Sueng-soo was identified as a target for Newcastle a couple of weeks ago, with reports heavily suggesting that the Magpies had won the race for the talented 18-year-old from Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

An update from The Chronicle today has suggested that things have progressed to the point where a medical has been booked for the 'Korean Mbappe'.

Newcastle are heading to Asia later this summer for more pre-season preparation, with South Korea on the agenda for the Magpies. It's now expected that Park Seung-soo will join up with Newcastle when they arrive.

Newcastle beat a long list of other clubs to the signing of Park Seung-soo

There was a long list of other clubs interested in Park Seung-soo, including Bayern Munich, Salzburg, Hoffenheim, Grasshoppers, Marseille, Valencia, Southampton, FC Midtyjlland and Frankfurt.

It sounds like there is still work to be done, but with a medical having been booked and an expectation that the player will link up with the squad in Asia, it looks as though this is another victory for Newcastle United.

Our academy is shaping up nicely with so many talented youngsters having been snapped up in the last few years.
