Newcastle United are one of many clubs keeping tabs on Palmeiras midfielder Allan after a stunning breakout season in Brazil.

In November, The Magpies were named as one of several clubs keeping tabs on the young attacking midfielder.

Zenit St Petersburg had an early bid rejected by Palmeiras for the 21-year-old, which was believed to be in the region of £18 million, and it was suggested that bids of around £28 million could seal the deal this month.

However, journalist Eduardo Burgos has now reported (via Give Me Sport) that Napoli have seen a £30 million bid knocked back for Allan.

Palmeiras hold all the cards in negotiations for Allan

Allan has a £86 million release clause in his contract that runs to 2029

Palmeiras hold a lot of power given that Allan has a release clause in his contract of around £86 million, and his deal runs until 2029.

Their stance is that unless an 'irresistible' offer arrives, Allan is going nowhere.

That being said, Burgos believes Newcastle have made contact over a potential move for the left-footed playmaker.

Could Newcastle's Brazilian contingent persuade Allan to move to Tyneside?

Allan is already on the Brazilian international team's radar, having been included in several preliminary squads, and the Magpies have a strong connection with Brazil these days via Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.

Whether that will be enough to convince one of Brazil's most promising up-and-coming talents to move to Tyneside, we're not so sure.

If Newcastle can't persuade Palmeiras to do a deal this month, we expect that their inbox will be very crowded in the summer with requests and offers. As much as we'd like to believe this one, we're not buying it just now.
