Better late than never as they saying goes, but the Newcastle United Fan Zone powered by STACK will be open for the Sela Weekender.

The newly built 3000 capacity area outside the Gallowgate End was supposed to be open in time for the Euros but work fell behind.

The club were always confident that the Fan Zone would be open in time for the new season and have today announced that the STACK Fan Zone will in fact be open for the Sela Weekender next weekend.

The two-day event gets underway on Friday night as Newcastle take on Girona at 7:30pm on 9th August and continues on Saturday as Newcastle United Women take on AC Milan in the lunch-time kick off, followed by Newcastle v Stade Brestois in the afternoon.

STACK officially opens at Midday on Thursday 8th August

STACK itself will actually open at Midday on Thursday 8th August so fans can head down to the new venue for food, drinks and entertainment.

It's expected that STACK will be the place to be before and after home fixtures, but it will also be a popular venue all other times during the week.

If you're heading to the Sela Weekend we suggest you get down early as it's likely to be absolutely jam-packed.

The venue is made up of 56 repurposed shipping containers

The Newcastle United website sheds a bit more light on what people can expect from the new fan zone venue.

"Crafted from 56 repurposed shipping containers, the venue has transformed land on Strawberry Place. A central plaza and main stage now accompany large screens, creating an immersive experience for live entertainment.

"Alongside Newcastle United themed resident bar units - including Local Hero, Wor Bar and the Toon Kit Room - the space is also home to a vibrant mix of 11 original STACK vendors and renowned North East restauranteurs, bringing a globally-inspired street food offering."
