Although something of an open secret following the use of squad numbers on shirts throughout pre-season to date, Newcastle United has today confirmed its squad numbers for the 2023/24 campaign.
Sandro Tonali has taken number 8, with Anthony Gordon moving to the number 10 previously held by Allan Saint-Maximin, while Harvey Barnes will wear the number 15 shirt he previously held at Leicester.
Lewis Miley is the only other notable change in the squad, moving up to 67 from 81, but every other senior player has kept the same number they wore in the 2022/23 season.
Tino Livramento's number 21 is now open, with Ryan Fraser having been stripped of his squad number, so the young right-back should take that upon the successful completion of his £35 million move from Southampton.
12, 16, 20, and 25 remain vacant, too, and it appears only one of them will be filled this season following Eddie Howe's comments in his morning press conference.
