Reports from Argentina are suggesting that Newcastle United are set to return with a fresh bid for Estudiantes forward Benjamin Rollheiser in January.

Newcastle were linked to the 23-year-old forward in the summer but a move never materialised and at one point it looked like Rollheiser was off to Russia to link up with Zenit St Petersburg or CSKA Moscow.

Rollheiser opted to stay in Argentina with Estudiantes where he's gone on to score 12 goals and provide six assists in 54 appearances in all competitions.

Rollheiser previously had his heart set on a move to Newcastle

That form, according to Argentinian site ole, has been enough to rekindle Newcastle's interest.

Rollheiser is contracted to Estudiantes until 2025 but has been heavily tipped to move on in January, with Newcastle a preferred destination.

It was reported in the summer by journalist Alan Nixon that Rollheiser would have rejected all other proposals if Newcastle had come in with a firm offer.

Can Rollheiser cut it in the Premier League?

It's unlikely that Rollheiser would break the bank either with the figure being reported in the summer being somewhere around the £12million mark. His fee may have increased slightly due to his form, but it's still potentially a lot lower than it would cost to buy a player from Europe.

Obviously, the big question mark for us is whether he would be able to adapt to life in the Premier League. Scoring goals in Argentina is one thing, but doing it in England is an entirely different prospect.

As much as Newcastle needs reinforcements in attack, we're not 100% convinced that Benjamin Rollheiser is the answer.
