Early on in the summer Newcastle United signed a young Serbian defensive midfielder to go into the youth set up.

Miodrag Pivas signed for Newcastle as a free agent at the end of June and joined the Magpies with a fair bit of hype surrounding his future.

Pivas had been compared to Nemanja Vidic and is expected to be a huge player for Serbia in the future.

This morning, the club has confirmed that Pivas has now gone out on a season-long loan to Dutch side Willem II.

Newcastle loaned two players to the Eredivisie last season

The Eredivisie seems to be a good avenue for Newcastle's youth players with two of our lads playing out their last season with very contrasting results.

Yankuba Minteh had an excellent season with Feyenoord, giving Newcastle fans hope that he would return to the club in the summer with a view to getting some first team action this season. Unfortunately, PSR forced Newcastle into selling Minteh to Brighton for £33 million where he's started every Premier League game this season.

Aussie striker Garang Kuol spent last season at FC Volendam and didn't have anywhere near as much luck as Minteh. Kuol remains at Newcastle and his future is looking very uncertain after two less-than-impressive loan moves.

Will Pivas be more Minteh or Kuol?

Let's hope that Pivas can be more Minteh than Kuol over in Holland, but Newcastle can keep hold of him when he returns.

PSR shouldn't be as big of an issue next summer, especially given our lack of spending in this window, so we hopefully won't be forced into doing any outrageous deals again.

Good luck to Pivas on his new adventure and hopefully he impresses while out on loan.
