In the early hours of Friday morning in the UK, Brazil and Chile were playing out a World Cup Qualifier clash half way around the World with Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes forced to watch on from the bench.

Brazil boss Dorival Junior tried to mix things up to inject some life back into a struggling Brazil side and his idea was to drop Newcastle's £40 million superstar opting to go with Lucas Paqueta and Andre.

It took just 45 minutes for Dorival to realise his error and Bruno Guimaraes was brought on for the second half ultimately popping up in the 89th minute with an assist for Luiz Henrique's winner as Brazil won 2-1.

Next up for Brazil is Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning - 1:45am BST.

The big question is whether Dorival Junior will stick by his experiment of whether he's realised his error and will throw in Bruno Guimaraes from the start.

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte seems to think that Bruno will be reinstated to the starting lineup to face Nolberto Solano's home nation.

The article suggests that Dorival is still experimenting with the lineup to find the right mix of players, but with Paqueta suspended, his hand has been forced somewhat.

It's all about the lads coming home unscathed

As long as Bruno comes away from the game without injury then we don't really care how much he plays. It's a World Cup qualifier so at least there's something on the line.

None of the three Newcastle players selected for England duty made an appearance in last night's win over Finland so they should all be coming back fit and ready to go.

We imagine Tino Livramento is fuming, though, having been pulled out of the Under 21 squad just to watch from the sidelines again when he would likely have started for the U21s.
