Newcastle United will negotiate the early release of Isaac Hayden from his contract ahead of a busy summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old's contract doesn't come to an end until June 2026, but the midfielder hasn't made an appearance for Eddie Howe's side since 2021.

Instead, Hayden has had several spells out on loan at Norwich City, Standard Liege and Queens Park Rangers.

Now due to return to the Magpies, it looks like his time at the club is up after almost eight years.

Hayden will leave Newcastle with Ryan Fraser

Alongside Hayden, Newcastle have reportedly agreed terms with Southampton for a permanent deal for Ryan Fraser who spent the season on loan at the Saints, helping them achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

According to Dominic Scurr of the Shields Gazette, Hayden will negotiate a financial package with the club before his exit. QPR are reportedly interested in taking him back on a permanent basis with other Championship clubs also interested.

The Magpies have already seen six players leave the club upon the expiry of their contracts including Paul Dummett, Matt Ritchie and Loris Karius.

Hayden's time at the club came with plenty positives

The exit of Hayden feels bittersweet. Although many fans know he won't be a part of the squad next season he has still been an integral player in previous seasons.

Since joining in 2016, Hayden has made 151 appearances for the Magpies in the Championship and Premier League.

During those games, he scored six goals including a memorable winning goal against Chelsea in 2020.
