The Kieran Trippier saga continues despite reports saying that the Newcastle United vice-captain is not angling for a move and the club don't want to sell.
That was the latest last night but this morning fresh reports from Germany are saying quite the opposite.
Christian Falk of Bild has taken to X this morning to suggest that 'crucial talks' are set to take place today over the 33-year-old which could see Trippier heading to Germany before the transfer window closes.
This one definitely has a feel of a story that's not going to go away until the window shuts or he actually moves.
With some reports saying that Trippier flew back from New York to push through the move and others saying he's not pushing for a move, we honestly don't know where we stand.
The fact that both of those sides of the story came from the same source makes it even more confusing with Craig Hope flip-flopping more than a beer-belly-sporting dad on holiday in Benidorm.
One thing is for sure though, this summer is shaping up to be interesting. The fact that players like Trippier are being linked with moves away from the club heavily suggests that big changes are in the offing and if they don't happen in January, the summer is going to be very busy.
It does look as though there's a clear-out of the older players on the cards with Trippier, Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron all edging towards the door.
Newcastle's recruitment policy has been more focused on younger players, but you still need someone with experience to guide them, so selling all of our older players may not be the wisest move. It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.
