Newcastle United have despatched scouts to South America to take a look at winger Kevin Zenon who only just moved to Boca Juniors in January.

A post on X from journalist Martin Costa, in Saca del Medio on Radio Continental, a Boca Juniors-focused site in Argentina has claimed that Newcastle will have representatives in attendance this weekend to see what the 22-year-old winger can do.

According to Martin Costa, Zenon could be available for around £12million in the summer.

"The interest is there"

"Martín Costa reports

"On the weekend at the Monumental there will be people from Newcastle who are going to go watch Zenón. The interest is there, they are going to see him and if he convinces them we will see what happens in the middle of the year. The clause is 15M dollars"

Since his £2.7m January move from CA Union, Zenon has made six appearances for Boca Juniors and racked up a goal and an assist already.

Zenon currently plays on the left wing but can also play as an inverted winger which would make him a perfect replacement for Miguel Almiron who we expect to be leaving Newcastle in the summer.

Zenon would be in good company if he made the move from Boca Juniors to Newcastle

Signing him as a left-winger wouldn't make much sense given we already have Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes fighting over that position, but with Miggy gone, we'd be left with Jacob Murphy as our out-and-out choice for right wing.

That video shows Zenon to have a brilliant eye for a pass which puts him ahead of Miggy already who is more known for his running ... into dead ends and turning back.

Kevin Zenon wouldn't be the first player to make the trip to Newcastle via Boca Juniors if this one comes off. In fact he'd be in esteemed company with Nolberto Solano coming direct from Boca and Fabricio Coloccini having a stop off there on his way to Newcastle were the curly-haired legend started his career there making one appearance scoring one goal.
