Newcastle United could look to do some significant transfer business in January with one exit and one new arrival lined up.

The Magpies still need to address the right-wing issue after failing to find a new addition to challenge and indeed succeed Miguel Almiron with only Jacob Murphy a contender for that position.

While Miguel Almiron has been a fantastic servant to Newcastle since his arrival, there have always been question marks over the Paraguayan. His decision-making and utter lack of a right foot have been huge concerns over the years.

Now it seems Eddie Howe has installed Murphy as the first-choice right winger for the Premier League, although Miggy did get a run out in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Bryan Mbeumo is on Newcastle's radar for January

Miguel Almiron could be finally set to leave Newcastle in January

Miggy actually looked very lively and keen to get on the scoresheet, but his shooting was way off the mark. However, it was he who won Newcastle the penalty that ultimately decided the tie.

That being said, Newcastle are still planning to offload the 30-year-old after failing to do so in the last two transfer windows.

The closest Newcastle got to moving him on was when MLS side Charlotte FC approached the club, but their offer was way too low.

Newcastle are lining up Bryan Mbeumo

Interest still remains in Almiron from Saudi Arabia, France and Germany and even Everton have an eye on the South American.

TeamTalk claims that should Newcastle be able to shift Miggy in January they may be the side to take Bryan Mbeumo away from Brentford with the Bees boss Thomas Frank saying he expects Mbeumo to join a top club in January.

Newcastle are reportedly keen on the 25-year-old and a move would be made so much easier to do should Almiron leave first.
