With Newcastle United's board convening over a three-day period this weekend at Alnwick Castle to discuss club business, it's expected that the club's transfer activity will kick up a notch next week.

The board have booked out Alnwick Castle from Friday to Sunday with transfer strategy likely to be very high on the agenda with Newcastle so far only bringing in Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos.

There have of course been notable outgoings in the form of Yankuba MInteh and Elliot Anderson who were sold in a frantic weekend as Newcastle tried to get their finances in order in a bid to comply with PSR.

After that hectic few days, it seems that Newcastle have taken a step back but they've also welcomed a new sporting director to the club in the form of Paul Mitchell, so until they've had a chance to hear his full plan, it's not surprising that things have been a bit slow.

Jarrod Bowen is high on Newcastle's wish list

Newcastle are confident they can strike a deal for Jarrod Bowen

The Northern Echo are now reiterating that the Magpies' main priority this summer is a creative right winger and a central defender, while a new striker could also be on the cards depending on what happens with Callum Wilson who has been linked with a move away.

The report also claims that Newcastle have their ideal candidate in mind for that right-wing position and are actually confident that they can get the deal done.

West Ham United's Jarrod Bowen is currently away with England at Euro 2024, and the Newcastle board are planning to launch a bid for the 27-year-old after the tournament.

West Ham want £100m for Jarrod Bowen

Naturally, West Ham want to keep hold of Bowen who managed 16 goals and six assists in 34 Premier League games for the Hammers last season.

West Ham have Bowen tied up until 2030 after the winger recently signed a new deal, but Newcastle believe they can lure him away with a decent offer, although it's reported that West Ham want over £100million for the former Hull City man.

There's a definite interest in Bowen by Newcastle, but whether a deal can be reached with everything looking so heavily weighted in West Ham's favour remains to be seen. Fingers cross we can get the deal done, though.
