So far Lloyd Kelly remains the only outfield addition to Newcastle United's squad this summer as the Magpies take a cautious approach to the transfer window.

In the early part of the summer transfer window Newcastle were more concerned with outgoings as they scrambled to raise around £60million to comply with PSR.

Newcastle managed to just about beat the deadline and can now focus on incoming targets with Paul Mitchell now in place as sporting director.

No doubt Mitchell will have some ideas of his own, but Portuguese outlet Sapo Desporto believe Newcastle still have their eye on a player they wanted last year.

Goncalo Inacio remains of interest to Newcastle

Newcastle are still keeping tabs on Goncalo Inacio

Since last summer, Newcastle have been linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon's Goncalo Inacio with his name reappearing as a player the Magpies had their eye on again in January.

So far this summer, Inacio's name hasn't really featured, until now.

The 22-year-old product of the Sporting academy has a €60million (£50million) release clause that Newcastle are apparently still considering activating.

Newcastle have long been linked to Inacio and Ousmane Diomande

A centre-back is a known priority position for Newcastle, in spite of the arrival of Lloyd Kelly, and there have been many names already suggested as possible targets.

Inacio's teammate, 20-year-old Ousmane Diomande has also been continuously linked to Newcastle in the past, but at the moment it seems like the Magpies' priorities lie elsewhere.

Indeed, reports over the weekend heavily suggest that things are on track for Newcastle to acquire Malick Thiaw from AC Milan, and if that transpires, the likelihood is that would be Newcastle's centre-back shopping done for this summer.
