Newcastle United are once again being linked with big-name players as the Magpies continue their search for a winger to succeed Miguel Almiron.
The Magpies have been connected with a whole host of names when it comes to looking for a long-term successor for Almiron, however, nothing has ever really come close to becoming a reality.
Perhaps the closest Newcastle have come was this summer's attempts to land Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
Now, though Give Me Sport are reporting that Newcastle and Arsenal are both keen on bringing Leroy Sane back to the Premier League.
Sane had four seasons in the Premier League with Manchester City where he made 90 Premier League appearances scoring 25 goals and providing 29 assists.
Though he predominantly played on the left for Man City, he was deployed on the right wing several times too.
Since moving to Bayern Munich, the German international has played in various roles for the Bundesliga side and that's the kind of versatility Eddie Howe will be looking for.
Give Me Sport believes that Arsenal and Newcastle are watching Sane's contract situation carefully with the 28-year-old's Bayern contract due to expire next summer.
Sane is an 'incredible' player, as claimed by Rafael Van Der Vaart, and would instantly improve Newcastle, but he's currently on £325,000-a-week at Bayern and if we were to try and sign him on a free after leaving Bayern, we can't imagine he'd be looking to take a pay cut as free transfers can usually negotiate higher wages due to the absence of a transfer fee.
It's a nice thought that Newcastle would be able to attract the likes of Leroy Sane but our current wage structure simply doesn't allow it. We absolutely can not see this one happening.
