Newcastle United have had their scouts watching Leeds United recently specifically taking a look at Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville.

The winger signed for Leeds United in 2020 for just £1.3million from Feyenoord. The then 18-year-old has gone on to become one of Leeds' most prominent players, which has alerted the scouts at Newcastle.

A report from Football Transfers has now suggested that said scouts were in attendance at Leeds last year to cast their eye over the 22-year-old.

Leeds are digging their heels in when it comes to outgoings in January

The problem Newcastle will face is that Leeds will be extremely reluctant to sell in January.

The Yorkshire club are looking to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking and manager Daniel Farke has insisted that he wants to keep all of his big players at the club in January after losing so many in the summer.

That leaves Newcastle in a very difficult position. The Magpies have to navigate Profit and Sustainability rules and are thought to be cutting it fine in that department already, so it would then be easy for Leeds to simply price Newcastle out of the market.

Newcastle could do with someone like Summerville

Burnley had already gone in with a £20million bid in the summer which was rejected by Leeds, so Newcastle would have to beat that offer to stand any chance. Something that just doesn't seem doable in this window with all the other areas of the pitch we need to improve.

It's a shame as Summerville can play on either wing and already has 12 goals and six assists in the Championship this season from 23 outings.

Summerville could be a really good signing for Newcastle but it's one that may have to wait until the summer, and could be made easier should Leeds fail to gain promotion.
