This has already been a bizarre up-and-down summer when it comes to Newcastle United's transfer business.

The signings the club have made so far have underwhelmed to say the least, the players Newcastle have sold have caused quite a bit of hostility towards the club and some of the players we've been linked with have been less than kind about the prospect of joining the Magpies.

Fikayo Tomori was said to have rejected the idea of a move to Newcastle when he was told the club wanted to take him from AC Milan, with the England defender feeling it would be a step back for his career.

Michael Olise and Tosin Adarabioyo were both approached by Newcastle but went elsewhere, hell, even our first-choice replacement for Dan Ashworth turned us down when Dougie Freedman opted to stay at Crystal Palace.

Federico Chiesa certainly won't have endeared himself to Newcastle fans with his latest statement

Italy and Chiesa were pretty poor at Euro 2024

That being said, we have been linked with some top players, albeit with none of those links going anywhere as of yet.

Newcastle have long held an interest in Juventus winger Federico Chiesa and once again made an approach this summer, but for the second year in a row, a move looks unlikely.

The winger's value has plummeted after he was highlighted as one of the 'disappointments' at Euro 2024 as lacklustre Italy went out in the round of 16 after losing 2-0 to England's next opponents, Switzerland.

However, despite that, the Italy winger still believes he is too good for a move to Tyneside.

Newcastle offered the best terms for Federico Chiesa

Calciomercato are reporting that Chiesa, who is once again at a stalemate with Juventus with a year left on his deal, has said that Newcastle are 'not up to par'.

Newcastle had reportedly made the best offer for the winger, but now only Roma and Fiorentina remain interested.

We were all for bringing in Chiesa last summer, and again this summer, but if that's how he feels about us, then we move on and don't look back. Add him to the list of people we will prove wrong and let's find ourselves another winger who wants to be here.
