Newcastle United failed in their attempts to persuade Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise to join this summer with the French winger heading to Bayern Munich.

Fortunately, Eddie Howe has other targets in mind with The Athletic claiming that West Ham's Jarrod Bowen remains of interest as does Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

The latter is being pursued by a host of clubs this summer with talk that Brighton have got the ball rolling with a £30million bid for the 22-year-old Dutchman.

Now it remains to be seen if Newcastle's interest will push them to also enter the race for the versatile winger who had 28 goal involvements in the Championship last season.

Crysencio Summerville is expected to be on the move this summer

Summerville has been tipped to flourish under Eddie Howe

While Summerville had a good season in the Championship for Leeds, it's safe to say he wasn't as prolific the season before in the Premier League when Leeds were relegated.

We reached out to my old They Think It's All O-VAR podcast buddy and former Vital Leeds writer Andrew Hawkins for his thoughts on Summerville to see if he'd be worth a punt for Newcastle. Here's what he said:

"If the money is right, he can go. Rumours from our end is that he's happy and doesn't want to move, but we value him at £35m minimum and apparently, Brighton have started the bids at £35m.

"He's a great player at Championship level, never really got a chance in the prem with us, but if I had to be critical, he is a bit of a one-trick pony. Fast, cuts in on his right and shoots. If that gets stopped with a decent right back or he gets doubled up on, he goes missing.

"Don't get me wrong, he's a fantastic player whose ceiling is high. He would probably flourish under Howe and I wouldn't grudge him the move. Like I say, as long as the money is right, every player has a price."

Newcastle fans seems split on Crysencio Summerville

The opinion on this one seems to be divided amongst Newcastle fans with some seeing the potential and others of the belief that he's simply not good enough.

It's always a risk taking a player from the Championship and expecting them to do well in the Premier League, especially when they've already had a pop at the top tier and didn't really stand out.

However, Summerville is young and is comfortable on both flanks like Anthony Gordon, which would give Howe the opportunity to switch the two mid-game if things aren't going to plan. It's another one of those transfers that seems uninspiring at first, but could come in clutch.
