Newcastle United are one of several Premier League sides hoping for positive news in the coming days after tailing Rennes' young winger for months.

Back in January, Newcastle were said to be keen on Rennes' 19-year-old winger Desire Doue, and while things have quietened on that front since, we're sure that the Magpies will still be keeping an eye on the latest developments regarding his future.

Indeed, Eddie Howe's side are far from the only interested party with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Tottenham all showing interest and with Bayern Munich already having had an approach rebuffed.

As is often the case with young, French talent, Paris Saint-Germain are never far behind and Fabrizio Romano has claimed that PSG have made their move.

Fabrizio Romano says Doue will decide his fate soon

The transfer guru has suggested that he expects Desire Doue to make up his mind on his future in the coming days.

"Désiré Doué will decide which club he prefers to join in the next days, it’s not decided yet.

"Paris Saint-Germain sent first proposal today and will push in talks again.

"Bayern first bid got rejected by Rennes but they’re planning to return and try again too."

We don't believe Newcastle will be in the mix for Desire Doue at this point

We're unsure whether Newcastle have even gone as far as to throw their hat into the ring for Doue after links have died off over time, but with the Magpies' search for a winger still ongoing, we wouldn't be shocked if contact has been made.

However, Doue is primarily a left-winger, and at just 19, is also unlikely to be thrown into the first-team as a regular starter by Eddie Howe, especially if he plans to use him on the opposite flank to what he's used to. Therefore we suspect that Newcastle may step aside and let this one pass us by.

Newcastle need a right-sided winger who is ready to start every game and do the same job that Anthony Gordon does on the other side.
