Newcastle United have been window shopping in Barcelona again according to recent reports with two players linked with a move to Tyneside today.

First up is one that keeps popping up but has never managed to convince us that it has any basis in reality.

Former Manchester City man Ferran Torres is said to be back on Newcastle's radar as the club look to acquire a new right-winger to take the Magpies to the next level.

Jacob Murphy was given the nod to start against Southampton yesterday but was also the sacrificial lamb when Eddie Howe was forced into a personnel change after Fabian Schar was sent off.

Ferran Torres is still wanted by Newcastle according to "sources"

Newcastle maintain an interest in Ferran Torres

Football Insider are once again claiming that their nameless, faceless (and seemingly voiceless as they never have a direct quote) sources have indicated that the Magpies are preparing an offer for Ferran Torres.

Journalist Peter O'Rourke has claimed that it would take an "attractive offer" to convince Barcelona to sell and that Torres himself isn't "overly fussed" with a return to the Premier League.

Torres doesn't appear to be part of Hansi Flick's first-team plans at Barcelona but Torres would prefer to stay and fight for his place in the side.

We still remain unconvinced despite the constant links

With this coming out of Football Insider the salt is required with this one, however, at least there's no talk of a £15 million bid this time, as if Barcelona would ever have accepted that.

Ferran Torres would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle, we've no doubt about that, but we never believed the links when they first appeared and we don't believe them now.

We'd probably stand a better chance of nabbing Raphinha, but even that seems very unlikely.
