This morning saw a tweet from Newcastle United partner SAUDIA which hints at a potential new deal.

Newcastle United were expected to unveil Saudi Arabian Airline, SAUDIA as front-of-shirt sponsor last year as representatives from the PIF-owned airline were in Newcastle, however, while a partnership agreement was reached it wasn't as a shirt sponsor.

The SAUDIA name has been seen around the advertising hoardings at St James' Park since that meeting, but now something bigger could be in the offing as the airline posted a cryptic message on X formerly Twitter.

The post simply said "Stay Tooned" which has chins wagging that a huge sponsorship deal could be about to be announced between the club and the airline.

Sela took over as shirt sponsor from Fun88 this season, signing a multi-year agreement, and with all the work Sela are doing with the fan zone, it's unlikely they'll be pushed aside for SAUDIA.

Hopefully, it is a tease for some sort of bumper sponsorship deal that will help the club wrangle free of the constraints of Financial Fair Play. Perhaps there's a stadium name change in the offing. It's something that has been openly discussed since the PIF took over Newcastle.

Mike Ashley tried to rename the stadium when he was in charge and it did not go down well with fans. However, the difference here is Newcastle will likely be paid handsomely if it is such a deal, whereas Mike Ashley paid nothing and transformed the stadium into the world's biggest Sports Direct billboard.

For now, we'll just have to keep guessing until SAUDIA follow up their tease with an announcement.

It might literally just be an increase in SAUDIA flights from Newcastle airport.
