Newcastle United are desperate to strengthen their right-wing attacking options in the next couple of windows.

Fans would definitely prefer it was a position that was addressed in January with Jacob Murphy not cutting it any more and Miguel Almiron likely to be sold.

Eddie Howe has stumbled on to a temporary fix with Joelinton and Anthony Gordon switching between the left and right flanks, but a more ready-made solution is required.

It has been suggested that Newcastle won't have a great deal of money to spend in January which could potentially rule them out of a move for priority target Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

A loan for the rest of the season could be a good move for Newcastle

Newcastle could bide their time and move for Mbeumo in the summer, but that leaves the second half of the season with no designated right-winger.

However, there is one player Newcastle have admired who could now be available and The Chronicle have suggested that he could be the answer.

Arne Slot's first transfer as Liverpool boss was to bring in long-term Newcastle target Federico Chiesa, but the Italian has struggled to break into the side, having made just one Premier League appearance so far. Rumours of injury issues have been used as the excuse, but talk of a return to Italy have already surfaced suggesting that injuries aren't the problem.

Would Liverpool loan Federico Chiesa to a Premier League rival?

If Liverpool are looking to loan Chiesa out for the remainder of the season, Newcastle could make a cheeky approach.

It would get Chiesa off Liverpool's books for a few months and Newcastle get a winger to tide them over until the summer.

The stumbling block would be whether or not Liverpool would loan to a Premier League rival.

It's an interesting theory The Chronicle has come up with, and we can definitely follow the logic, but we absolutely can't see it happening.
