Most laughable Newcastle United transfer claim of the summer has arrived - it has taken a while
Newcastle United fans are used to seeing the club's name tied with some outrageous transfer claims, and we do like to pick out our favourites.
As things stand, Newcastle are still in the race for Hugo Ekitike to complement Alexander Isak in Eddie Howe's attack.
Howe has also just added winger Anthony Elanga to the roster, an impressive and exciting move.
So as things are, you'd expect that things, forwards-wise, are pretty tied up for now, unless there's zero confidence in a deal getting done for Ekitike.
Newcastle and Brighton are eyeing Man United's Antony ... according to Fichajes
Of course, Newcastle will have other forwards in mind if the Ekitike move collapses, but they'll be looking more at a centre-forward than a right-winger, but that hasn't stopped Fichajes from linking the Magpies with another right-sided forward.
According to the Spanish outlet, Newcastle and Brighton want Manchester United reject, Antony. I mean. Come on!
While Antony did rediscover his form while on loan at Real Betis last season, he was a borderline embarrassment in the Premier League for Man United, and there's no way Newcastle have any interest in the 25-year-old Brazilian. It's not even as if he's got that versatility that could make him a useful addition.
Antony at Newcastle? Howay man!
We will never understand why other outlets run with Fichajes stories as if there's any truth to them. We avoid them like the plague unless we fancy giving our dear readers a bit of a chuckle.
If Antony couldn't hold down a place at Man United, what chance does he have of getting into our Starting XI? There's a good player in him, but he's not a Premier League player, clearly.
Normally, we'd look to the fact that he's a Brazilian international and suggest that maybe we're being a bit harsh, but Brazil's national side aren't exactly world-beaters these days, perhaps because they keep calling up Antony over Joelinton!
Imagine if this turns out to be true, though. I think we'd have to set up an NUFC FEED support group.
