The noises coming out of Newcastle United today are that winger Miguel Almiron would prefer to stay at the club rather than move to Al-Shabab.

Yesterday it looked like Miguel Almiron was on his way out of Newcastle after a deal had been agreed with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Shabab and that Almiron was open to the move.

However, in true Newcastle United fashion, the narrative has turned around completely this morning.

Craig Hope has his flip-flops on again

Craig Hope is now saying on X that Almiron would rather stay put and that if a deal were to happen, Al-Shabab would have to up their bid anyway.

Almiron was one of three first-team players who looked to be heading for the exit at St James' Park, and with all due respect, was probably the one that fans were least bothered about going.

The Paraguayan has been hit and miss for years on Tyneside, but he definitely has his fans thanks to his relentless energy and unmatched work rate. Unfortunately, his actual output often leaves a lot to be desired.

Jacob Murphy could fill in for Miggy without the need for buying an immediate replacement

While the Magpies have several wingers on the books, most of them are injured and the majority of those are primarily left sided. However, we do have Jacob Murphy who is due back from injury soon and was having a storming season before he dislocated his shoulder.

If Miggy were to leave, it wouldn't be as big of a blow as losing Kieran Trippier or Callum Wilson, although losing anybody right now is less than ideal.

We'll have to see if Al-Shabab are serious about the move and whether they will increase their bid. Then it's just a case of convincing Miggy his future lies elsewhere.
