After signing Anthony Elanga, the incomings at St James' Park screeched to a halt rather than kicking off a snowball effect, but Newcastle United are now close to their second summer signing.

Newcastle have brought in some exciting youngsters this summer, and there are already calls for 18-year-old Park Seung-soo to be included in the first-team squad after an impressive, but very brief, cameo against Team K-League on Wednesday, which saw the 'Korean Mbappe' skin the All Stars' defence a couple of times.

The reality is, though, that Park Seung-soo is heading for the development team, and his appearance in Korea was purely a PR stunt, albeit one that turned out really well for him and us.

Newcastle are closing in on their second first-team signing of the window, though Fabrizio Romano has stated that Aaron Ramsdale has completed his medical at Newcastle.

Aaron Ramsdale takes a step closer to becoming a Newcastle United player

After missing out on James Trafford, Newcastle reignited their interest in the England stopper and quickly thrashed out a loan deal with relegated Southampton for the former Arsenal 'keeper. Now Romano has confirmed that the medical is complete, and the move will go through.

🚨⚪️⚫️ Aaron Ramsdale completed his medical and he’s set to sign in at Newcastle on initial loan from Southampton.

Deal also included buy option clause not mandatory.

Many Newcastle fans aren't sold on the idea of Aaron Ramsdale

The loan fee is thought to be around £4 million, but there's no mention on if there's a set fee for if the Magpies want to buy Ramsdale next summer.

We guess he's got to impress enough first before we have to worry about that, and it seems like the 27-year-old has his work cut out for him to win over a large section of the Newcastle support.

They may be sceptical about his abilities, but we know that they'll get behind the lad regardless as soon as he steps out onto the pitch.
