Newcastle United should be looking to recruit in the January transfer window as something needs to be added to this squad to turn their fortunes around.

There are a couple of players who are at risk of leaving, too, although given the current injury issues, it's unlikely that any will actually go in January.

That's not stopping the rumour mill from whirring into life, however, and as always, the first rumour to do the rounds is Juventus and Sandro Tonali.

Juventus are reportedly obsessed with signing Tonali, but nothing has changed. The finances required for Juventus to do that, simply aren't there.

We need THIS Sandro back

Italian media just love to drop Sandro Tonali's name when discussing transfers

Gazzetta dello Sport have once again thrown up Tonali's name when talking about Juventus' transfer plans.

They did, however, refer to it as 'the dream of Sandro Tonali' and that seems about as realistic a line as we've got from the Italian media when it comes to Tonali's return home.

Not only is Tonali settled on Tyneside, but it is also well documented that the money for such signings just isn't in the Italian game anymore. Indeed, no other European league can compete with the Premier League when it comes to transfer fees and wages these days, except maybe Spain, and even then, it's only Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Sandro is one of several players who desperately need to rediscover their form

Sandro's form has dipped of late, but he's not alone in that as far as Newcastle goes with several players around him not pulling their weight.

The injection of a new player or two could be what's needed to give the team a bit of a boost. Nothing else seems to be working just now.

The Magpies are back in action on Tuesday night away at Burnley, and if we don't win at Turf Moor then I honestly give up on this season.
