Crystal Palace and Newcastle United don't seem to be any further forward in their talks over the future of Marc Guehi.

What has been the longest negotiation in the history of football over the sale of one player still bumbles on with no end in sight.

There were reports that Newcastle were looking to move on if no progress was made this week, that seems to have been a bluff that Palace have called, and while there are murmurs from members of the press that the deal will get done, it certainly doesn't feel like it will be done this weekend.

Crystal Palace entertain West Ham at Selhurst Park on Saturday at 3pm and the likelihood that this issue will be resolved by then is minimal.

Oliver Glasner is planning to have Marc Guehi available

Marc Guehi is expected to captain Palace tomorrow

Indeed, Palace boss Oliver Glasner told reporters today (via The Shields Gazette) that Marc Guehi is expected to lead the side out in tomorrow's game.

“Marc will lead the team out tomorrow. I expect everyone to be a Crystal Palace player until I’m told something different, especially the player because it is always their decision. So, yes.”

Unless something drastic happens in the next few hours, it looks as though Marc Guehi will notch at least two appearances for Palace this season.

End. The. Misery!

Eddie Howe really could have done with this saga being concluded by now, especially with Fabian Schar set to miss the next three games.

Numbers are light in defence with Schar suspended and Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles both out injured.

Where's your compassion, Crystal Palace? Where's your mercy? In all seriousness, surely they're as bored of all this as we are now.
