One thing I think a lot of Newcastle United fans were looking forward to seeing today was another clown show from Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Ever since the Cameroonian 'keeper arrived at Old Trafford he has been known more for his errors than his shot-stopping ability.

Yet, due to a lack of other options, he has remained Man United's first-choice keeper under Ruben Amorim since he replaced Erik ten Hag, who paid £47 million for him.

Until now, that is.

Altay Bayindir will be in goal at St James' Park

Ruben Amorim has made the decision to leave Andre Onana at home

Two Onana errors on Thursday allowed Lyon to come away with a draw in the Europa League quarter-final first-leg and it seems that they were the straws the broke the camel's back.

As has been widely reported, Onana is not in the Manchester United squad that has travelled to St James' Park with The Standard reporting that he has been given time off to rest and disconnect.

They go on to say that Onana is expected to be back in contention for the second leg against Lyon.

Altay Bayindir will be between the sticks for Man United today

Whatever the real reason for his absence, it's bad news for Newcastle fans as we were looking forward to seeing what damage Alexander Isak could do to the player dubbed 'one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United's history' by Nemanja Matic.

Altay Bayindir is likely to start in Onana's place, so let's hope that the pressure is too much for him to handle and Isak gets to play off against a poor 'keeper anyway.

I don't know about you, but I just love seeing Manchester United so rattled.
