Newcastle United were utterly humiliated by Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday afternoon.

So, I decided midway through the first half of the game that if our lads are just going to do the bare minimum today, then so am I.

Their minimum was simply going out onto the pitch and occasionally getting in Manchester City's way, and that's pretty much what they did.

The bare minimum for me is a report of 250 words, so that's what I will do. No more, no less. So this report might just end mid-sentence, but I feel it's emblematic of Newcastle's performance today.

Newcastle go on without a win at the Etihad

In a season where Manchester City have been so poor, this was our time to end the Etihad curse and go at them and try and get a result, but instead, we backed off and treated them like they were all carrying an infectious disease.

City took the lead after 19 minutes, and just 14 minutes later, it was 3-0, and Omar Marmoush had a hat trick, with every goal being preventable.

Half-time substitutions saw Lewis Miley and Tino Livramento replace Joe Willock and Kieran Trippier, while later on Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff would enter the fray. None of whom made a blind bit of difference.

The word limit was hit mid-sentence, sorry. But you get the point.

James McAtee was a Man City sub and he made an impact by scoring the fourth goal on 84 minutes, which was no less than the hosts deserved.

Newcastle had absolutely nothing about them today: no fight, no desire and Pep Guardiola...
