Newcastle United failed to bring in the right-winger so many people believe was desperately needed this summer despite a last-ditch attempt to sign Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.

The plan going into the summer break always seemed to be to offload Miguel Almiron and bring in a younger replacement but neither of those things transpired.

Newcastle spent the bulk of the transfer window chasing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi to no avail before pivoting to try and bring in Anthony Elanga on deadline day.

Now that the transfer window has closed, Newcastle are starting to put together a list of players to approach in January.

Newcastle have sent scouts to Norway to watch Sindre Walle Egeli

One player who has emerged as a target according to HITC is FC Nordsjaelland winger Sindre Walle Egeli.

The left-footed right-winger is just 18 but is already attracting attention from the Premier League with West Ham and Crystal Palace joining Newcastle in sending scouts to Norway to watch the youngster in action.

Already this season Egeli, who has been likened to Arjen Robben, has bagged three goals and an assist in just seven games.

An 18-year-old winger who plays like Arjen Robben. Bring it on!

Peder Jalland who coached Egeli at youth level for Norway told Netavisen that he has special talent.

“He is quiet and calm, works very hard, is very dedicated, (and) really wants to be a footballer.

“He has always had some abilities in the final third in relation to shooting. The ability in the box, to show up and be in the right place, and a surprisingly good right foot, which he sometimes forgets himself!

“He has some abilities there that are special. (Egeli as a player is) very exciting, one I have not seen very often.”

He sounds like a promising prospect, but at just 18 is he ready to take over the mantle from Miguel Almiron full time, or would Eddie Howe still want another winger? We'll have to wait and see.
