Luton Town were relegated from the Premier League after just one season following their meteoric rise to the top.

The Hatters won over a lot of people with their plucky spirit and their rejuvenation of Ross Barkley, but it wasn't enough to keep them in the league.

They will of course be hoping to bounce back up again next season, but that might have just got a little bit more difficult.

A report today has revealed that Luton Town have appointed former Newcastle man Danny Murphy after he left the club in January.

Good luck to Luton Town - you're going to need it

Training Ground Guru has revealed that Murphy has joined Luton as their head of medical eight months after his New Year's Day departure from the Magpies.

Under Murphy, Newcastle's squad was decimated by injuries last season and after an extended leave of absence, Murphy left the club in January.

The report at the time suggested it was a mutual parting of the ways, but given how bad Newcastle were suffering with injuries, we could see a strong case that he was pushed.

James Bunce is looking to put things right for Newcastle

Obviously, bad luck played a part in Newcastle's injury crisis, and even though Murphy was on extended leave, his staff were following his protocols so he can't be entirely blameless.

Thankfully Newcastle have appointed James Bunce who worked with Paul Mitchell at Monaco when Mitchell arrived there under the cloud of a huge injury crisis.

Bunce was able to put things right at Monaco and we're all hoping he can do the same at Newcastle, although we're aware it won't be an overnight fix.
