We are closing in on the biggest party Newcastle has seen for years as Newcastle United will hold an open-top bus parade through the city with the Carabao Cup culminating in a festival-type party on the Town Moor.

Plans to stage a party on the Town Moor were originally met with resistance from fans as it looked as though that celebration would be in place of an open-top bus parade, however, the club confirmed earlier this week that both events will indeed be happening on Saturday after all.

Details around the Town Moor event are still sparse, especially in terms of who the 'special guests' and entertainment will be.

Of course, rumours were abound initially that Sam Fender would perform on the day, but despite being asked and being initially keen, the North Shields native ultimately rejected the offer.

Sam Fender could possibly make an appearance on the Town Moor on Saturday

Now, though, Luke Edwards has taken to X to suggest that there could still be hope that Sam Fender could appear after all.

"Could Sam Fender pass a late fitness test and make a surprise appearance on Saturday? There are rumours… #nufc"

However, Edwards immediately followed that up emphasising the point that it's just a rumour right now and not to get too excited.

We love Luke Edwards' suggestion for an epic Sam Fender entrance

Edwards even suggested a way in which Fender could make his grand entrance, which would be pretty spectacular, let's be honest.

"I should stress it’s only a rumour. He decided against it last week but had initially been keen. Rumours are dangerous and his presence continues to be denied by those organising the event. Maybe he’ll parachute in with a Newcastle flag tied around his waist playing the guitar… #nufc"

Perhaps Fender would prefer to attend the event as a fan, much like he did when the takeover was announced. #cans
