Arne Slot and his assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff will tonight serve the first game of a two-match touchline ban leaving Johnny Heitinga in charge.

The name of Johnny Heitinga may be familiar to some after he spent five years in the Premier League as a player for Everton and Fulham.

Now an assistant coach at Liverpool, he has been elected to be the one in charge when Newcastle United visits Anfield tonight, with Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff watching on from the stands.

However, just hours before kick-off, a Liverpool fan has unearthed a tweet by Heitinga from 2019 that has given the Red Army cause for concern.

Liverpool's gaffer for the night is 'always a Blue'

As reported by Mail Sport, the tweet reads "Once a Blue always a Blue" with the fan reposting it with the caption "Our gaffa tonight".

Having someone who not too long ago was claiming to be an Evertonian in charge is probably bad enough for Liverpool fans, but the fact that he's been put into this position because the manager and his assistant are serving touchline bans for being sent off against Everton is just poetic.

How much a touchline ban really affects the outcome of games, we aren't really that sure, but we really want to see the Heitinga-based meltdown if Newcastle manage to get their first Premier League win in 31 years at Anfield tonight.

Can the Toon Army songsmiths use this to their advantage?

It could be something the travelling Toon Army can use to their advantage to unsettle Liverpool if nothing else.

There's nothing we love more than causing a rival meltdown, and this seems like a perfect opportunity to do so. It will all be Agent Heitinga's fault if Liverpool slip up.

Those straws we're grasping at ... they're getting closer.
