Newcastle United have some top quality players in their ranks these days and after a focus on bringing in young players since the takeover, there's a strong crop of 'wonderkids' in the squad.

Eddie Howe now has at his disposal two of the most exciting young full-backs in the game, both of whom are being tipped for big futures as England internationals.

Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento could soon find themselves lining up alongside Liverpool's Curtis Jones in the England senior team.

Jones has been talking to Sky Sports (as relayed by The Boot Room) about the top players has has played alongside for England at youth level.

Curtis Jones and Anthony Gordon are good mates

Curtis Jones picked Anthony Gordon as one of the best young players he's played with

The 23-year-old was asked “Who is the best England wonderkid Curtis has played with?” and he named a couple of the obvious answers before turning to Anthony Gordon.

“I’ve played with Jude (Bellingham), but I don’t know if the fans would know I’ve played with Jude, but I would say Jude.

“Bukayo (Saka), the same as Jude, I don’t need to say my opinion on that, how well he has done every single week.

“Anthony Gordon, I would say he is underrated as well. I know he does an amazing job and stuff, but he’s so underrated.

“The things you see him do and how fast he is and how sharp he is. Attackers are always spoken about in terms of goals they score, and assists, and how much of a threat they are. But how hard he works when he presses and tracks back. He’s overall just an amazing lad and a player.”

Curtis Jones may be slightly biased when choosing Anthony Gordon

Jones may be slightly biased after claiming recently on the Blood Red Podcast that he's best mates with Gordon and he was hoping that the Newcastle star would join him at Liverpool when the rumours were swirling in the summer.

Having said that though, it is hard to deny the talent that Anthony Gordon has as he almost singlehandedly kept Newcastle in the running for Europe last season with his amazing performances week in week out.

He's had a slower start to this season, but nobody needs to tell Gordon that as he's his biggest critic. After signing a new deal this week, we might see Gordon unleashed and free from distractions on Sunday when Newcastle play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
