Even though it's getting extremely frustrating, bordering on boring, the Marc Guehi to Newcastle United deal still has everyone talking.
Journalists, pundits and fans all have their own take on what's going on and what should happen next, but at the end of the day it all comes down to those involved in the deal.
Paul Mitchell and Dougie Freedman backed by Yasir Al-Rumayyan and Steve Parish respectively, will be locked in talks looking for a way forward.
In the meantime we can all speculate and say our thoughts on the matter, some make better points than others.
TalkSPORT's Simon Jordan has now said his bit, and we're of course expecting the bias to lean towards the most favourable outcome for Crystal Palace. He used to own the club, after all.
Jordan is a polarising figure, but lately he has seemed almost pro-Newcastle after months and months of taking any opportunity he could to take a swipe at us, especially when directed at Amanda Staveley.
So it's a shame that his positive streak has to come to an end with a frankly ludicrous statement.
Jordan said that Newcastle have a license to print money and should therefore fork over £70 million for Marc Guehi while ranting on TalkSPORT (h/t The Shields Gazette).
“So Palace are within their rights to push this as high as they possibly can and they’ve got benchmarks to look at. Newcastle, regardless of Financial Fair Play, have got a licence to print money with who their ownership is so pay the price, you want the best centre-half or one of the best centre-halves in English football, pay what Crystal Palace want.
“[Crystal Palace] have sold [Michael] Olise so they’ve got money there, they’ve got a centre-half and a manager [Oliver Glasner] that they believe they can build around, why would they sell him? [Steve] Parish said the offers they were getting were not compelling enough.
“If Newcastle want to fiddle and fart about and go up by five-million tranches, they can fiddle and fart around and get him at the end of the transfer window when they eventually reach Palace’s valuation which is £70million and you can have this player otherwise go away.”
Whether he was being disingenuous or not, the "license to print money" really got my back up. That may well be true - we can't deny that the PIF have practically infinite funds, the problem is that because of PSR, we aren't allowed to spend it.
Regardless of how much money our owners have, the club has to play by the rules, and as things stand, we cannot afford to go throwing money around as if it were nothing.
If we truly had that ability, would we have sold Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson in June? No we wouldn't.
Honestly, it's such a ridiculous statement from someone who should know better. But, that's how Simon Jordan operates. He'll say the outrageous thing to keep relevant.
