'Let's see': Alan Pardew weighs in on whether Eddie Howe should be sacked by Newcastle United
As is always the case in football, when a team isn't performing at the level it's expected to, talk turns to the future of the man in charge, and it's no different with Eddie Howe at Newcastle United.
There has always been a vocal minority who are the first to shout about sacking Eddie Howe the moment things go slightly awry, and with Newcastle sitting 14th in the Premier League with just three wins from 11 games, that vocal minority are making its voice heard again.
We don't feel that Eddie Howe is under pressure from the owners at this point; they've seen Howe weather the storm before, and they'll back him to do so again.
However, that won't stop the conversation from taking place, and it certainly won't stop those reactionary fans baying for Eddie Howe's head on a spike.
Alan Pardew has defended Eddie Howe despite a run of poor results
Unsurprisingly, TalkSPORT have already leapt onto the conversation with former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew giving his opinion on what the club should do with Howe.
“When I look at his team, Joelinton, [Sandro] Tonali and [Bruno] Guimaraes, what a midfield that is.
“Murphy was absolutely brilliant last year. Barnes got a goal this week. They’ve got the big fella [Nick Woltemade] who they signed. It does look, on paper, a good team. Goalkeeper is a position they’ve struggled in this year. I am still surprised the column for wins is not greater.
“I do think Eddie has enough in the locker. He proved that by winning the cup. I do hope he improves on the situation. He certainly has enough in that changing room.
“My opinion is stick with Eddie and let’s see where we go.”
Eddie Howe hasn't had a good, incident-free summer since he took over four years ago
Eddie Howe has always been given the time to put things right, and at least from most fans, there's always been an understanding of how difficult it has been for Howe to do his job effectively.
The constant merry-go-round of people in the boardroom, PSR, and petulant little brat players disrupting the dressing room are all examples of things Howe has had to navigate while trying to hold things together.
Obviously, there will come a point where the excuses don't cover the failures, but for now, Howe has more than earned the right to stick around and get the team back on track.
