Alexander Isak is a Liverpool player, that's the facts right now. At this point, how he got there doesn't matter; he's at Anfield now after having left Newcastle United.

There is always going to be a level of bitterness and even animosity towards the Sweden striker from the Newcastle fanbase, and Isak will know that. He made a rod for his own back with the way he chose to go about things in the summer.

However, dredging it up over and over again isn't going to change anything ... he says, dredging it up again.

Isak is currently on international duty with Sweden, where the media have once again tried to get him to talk about his former club.

Alexander Isak shot down a reporter in Sweden trying to fish for negative comments towards Newcastle

Isak started talking about Liverpool and how he's starting to feel better and fitter. Isak didn't train properly all summer as part of his tactics to force a move away from Newcastle, so he is well behind where he needs to be for Liverpool.

However, one reporter wanted to bring up the past and tried to get Isak to compare Liverpool to Newcastle, but Isak wasn't having any of it.

"It's nothing I want to dwell on now, it doesn't benefit anyone, neither me nor Newcastle so let it be."

I almost forgot how much I resented Isak for a second

That is about the first time I've felt any respect towards Isak since the summer.

When asked if he'd spoken to Eddie Howe since the move, Isak simply answered 'no'. It seems that the relationship had completely broken down by the end of the saga.

It's going to be interesting to see if there's any interaction between the two the first time the two sides meet this season.
