Leeds United are one win away from returning to the Premier League as Championship champions after battering Bristol City 4-0 on Monday night.

There's one game left to play in the Championship with Leeds and Burnley tied on points, separated by goal difference, but both clubs will be competing in the top tier next season.

As the last two seasons have shown, it's harder than ever for promoted teams to consolidate a place in the Premier League, with all three promoted teams dropping straight back out for the past two seasons, the first time that's ever happened in Premier League history.

PSR has made it practically impossible for promoted sides to be competitive these days, as they can't spend the money required to add the players that make a strong Championship side into a surviving Premier League one.

Talk about a Sean Longstaff move is starting to gather pace

Leeds United could look to Sean Longstaff to help them in the Premier League next season

A report in iNews suggests Leeds will need four or five new players if they are to mount a serious bid to remain in the division for more than one season.

One player they claim the Yorkshire club has their eye on is Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff, who looks set to leave his boyhood club this summer.

Longstaff's vast Premier League experience and battling nature make him an ideal player for Leeds if they want to consolidate their place.

Sean Longstaff looks set to have Premier League options this summer

Sean Longstaff has fallen down the pecking order at Newcastle, and his first-team chances have been very limited since the turn of the year after he begged to stay until the summer, with Newcastle on course to lift silverware.

Now that he's fulfilled his dream of lifting a trophy with the Magpies, he's likely to be more open to leaving in the summer.

Manchester United have been linked with Longstaff lately, too, so it looks as though Longy will have options to stay in the Premier League at least.
