Leeds United and Everton set to battle over £10m Newcastle United star this summer as exit looks likely

Leeds United's scouts must only have electric cars, so they don't like to travel very far, which is why they seem to be constantly linked with Newcastle United players.

Having recently acquired Karl Darlow from Newcastle, rumours kicked up earlier this year that the soon-to-be Premier League side were looking to snap up Nick Pope from Newcastle to replace Illan Meslier whose errors have proven to be too much for Daniel Farke.

Nick Pope isn't the only Newcastle player on Leeds' radar either with the Whites looking to build up their squad to give them the best chance of surviving the first season back in the top flight - a feat which has proved to be too much for all three promoted clubs in each of the last two seasons.

Leeds is also keeping an eye on midfielder Sean Longstaff's situation at the Toon, with the academy product likely to leave the club this summer.

Everton will challenge Leeds United for Sean Longstaff's signature

However, Daniel Farke won't have a clear shot at Longstaff, according to Leeds Live, as Everton are also still keen on the midfielder, who is reportedly valued at just £10 million by the Magpies.

Everton have a long-standing interest in Longstaff, but that was back in the Sean Dyche days; however, it now seems as though David Moyes is also a fan.

Considering when Longstaff burst onto the scene, there was an influx of reports linking him with a move to Manchester United for £50 million, it's safe to say his value has certainly dropped.

We're glad Sean Longstaff has Premier League options on the table

Eddie Howe has been a big supporter of Sean Longstaff since he took over at Newcastle, but his dwindling appearances suggest that Howe feels he's taken him as far as he can, and it's time for him to move on.

While £10 million may not seem like much, and it isn't to be fair, it does represent pure profit for the club in terms of PSR, thanks to Longstaff coming through the academy, so that does make the deal slightly more appealing.

We do believe it's time for Longstaff to move on, but we are pleased he's still got options to remain in the Premier League. He deserves that much at least.
