Lee Carsley has announced his second England squad as interim boss following Gareth Southgate's resignation earlier this year.

In his first squad Lee Carsley called upon Newcastle United's £32 million full-back Tino Livramento for his first senior call-up.

The former Southampton man never got so much as a minute of football across the two Nations League games against Ireland and Finland which had fans scratching their heads as to why he was even called up if Carsley was never going to give him a look in.

Earlier today Carsley named his second squad and Livramento was nowhere to be seen making the whole exercise of calling him up last time seem even more pointless.

The Tino Livramento situation is baffling

Carsley also dropped Eberechi Eze, Harry Maguire and Jarrod Bowen but has offered no explanation on his seemingly failed Livramento experiment.

Tino has been in and out of the starting XI at Newcastle since his England adventure with Kieran Trippier getting more game time under Eddie Howe. Whether that has factored into Carsley's thinking or he simply wasn't impressed with what he saw from the 21-year-old in training last time, only he knows.

There's still plenty of time left for Livramento to break into the England team as many have believed he will. He's clearly got the talent and the ability, just maybe lacks the consistency right now.

Nick Pope and Anthony Gordon keep their places in the England squad

Meanwhile, Nick Pope and Anthony Gordon have both retained their places in the England squad.

Pope is unlikely to actually play for the Three Lions with Jordan Pickford having that position sewn up, but that's something the 32-year-old has made his peace with.

Anthony Gordon was given a couple of good run outs by Carsley last time around and will be hoping for more of the same this time, especially as he's finding is form more and more as the season goes on.
