Manchester City could be about to sanction the sale of one of their most notable first-team assets which could directly affect Newcastle United.

All summer so far we've had to endure many stories that Bruno Guimaraes is going to Manchester City.

Whether that be for the £100million when his release clause was active or some other figure, or even today's bizarre claims that City will loan us one of their starlets for a season to soften the blow.

It's a story that refuses to go away, and now it looks like it might even step up a notch in the coming days.

Kevin De Bruyne's potential move will spark the Bruno Guimaraes rumours again

TNT Sports are reporting that Man City's midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne has agreed personal terms with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad and Pep Guardiola is open to sanctioning the move.

Should that go through, the rumours that Bruno Guimaraes is City's man to replace De Bruyne will kick into overdrive, guaranteed.

Regardless of how much truth there is, and whether or not Manchester City even so much as make an enquiry, this is a headline we're going to have to get used to seeing.

We're still not convinced Bruno will be leaving us this summer, but ...

We're sure that Man City will have other targets in mind to succeed De Bruyne other than just Bruno, but the fact that Pep has praised Bruno on several occasions is enough to allow journalists' imaginations to run wild.

Once again, Newcastle fans should take comfort in everything that has been said before now and ride the next wave of this being the big story.

It would have to be an insane offer for Newcastle to even consider letting Bruno go to anyone, let alone a Premier League rival, and if they're willing to pay stupid money, then we'd be stupid not to take it quite frankly. As much as we love Bruno, no player is bigger than the club, and if Newcastle can pull in well over £100million for one player, then we're not really in a position to pass that up.
