As suspected Gareth Southgate has made just one change to the starting lineup as England take on Slovenia tonight at 8pm.

It's England's final group game of Euro 2024 with results last night confirming that the Three Lions will qualify from the group regardless of their result tonight.

Most managers would take that as an excuse to experiment with the side, tweak the tactics, and see how some of the other players who haven't had a kick can do, but not Gareth, oh no, that's too adventurous for Mr Negative.

We said yesterday that Trent Alexander-Arnold was set to be dropped for Conor Gallagher in a move that mimics his first substitution in both previous group games.

Kieran Trippier will start for England tonight

Kieran Trippier has shaken off a calf injury to start

Newcastle United's Kieran Trippier will start once again at left-back despite nursing an injury since the bore draw with Denmark while the man that almost every pundit has said should be starting, Anthony Gordon, will once again sit on the bench.

I still don't understand what Conor Gallagher is even doing there in Germany, never mind getting minutes ahead of Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer or Jarrod Bowen, and I will stick by that even if Gallagher scores a screamer tonight.

Who knows, maybe Southgate will play around with things during the match and give Gordon and/or Palmer a run out at some point, although he's only likely to do that if we're comfortably in the lead and given how we seem allergic to scoring a second goal, that's unlikely.

England have been a chore to watch so far

England have followed the same pattern as the last two international competitions by winning their opening game and drawing their second and winning the third, and we expect that they will follow that trend again this evening.

However, it's not so much about whether England will win, most people will be confident about that, it's about how they win. Will we be negative again and protect a one-goal lead with our lives rather than trying to kick on?

It's so annoying as other than England this has actually been an entertaining competition so far, but when it comes to the games that matter, it has been a total slog.
