One exhausting Newcastle United transfer saga has come to an end it seems as Kieran Trippier's reported move to Bayern Munich looks to be off.

It has been a tense couple of days with conflicting information flying around about Kieran Trippier and a transfer to Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich.

When the story broke it looked like it was all systems go and that Trippier was going to jump at the chance to link up with Harry Kane and Eric Dier at the German side.

A lot of different stories emerged in quick succession

Then as the days went on the story kept evolving but never in a straight line. One minute Trippier wanted the move, the next he wanted to stay. Newcastle wanted to sell, then they didn't.

Yesterday Bayern Munich came in with an official bid of €15million (£12.8million) which was rejected by Newcastle and since then talk has been of Bayern coming back with an improved offer.

That was until this afternoon when it became clear that the deal was off after a brief announcement by the Bayern director Christoph Freund who announced that their interest was over.

“Kieran Trippier deal is off.

“We only do what we are 100% convinced of."

There's still a chance Newcastle could sell some big players this month

That just leaves the trio of Miguel Almiron, Jamaal Lascelles and Callum Wilson to deal with as reports of exits for those three continue to swirl. Although Wilson seems to be an unlikely one in January.

We can see a world where Miggy and Lascelles leave this month but especially in the case of Lascelles, the club would have to act fast to bring in a replacement as numbers in the central defence position are low enough as it is.

We could survive until the end of the season without replacing Almiron with Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes due back soon, but we'd be mad to not replace Lascelles.
