Sky Sports' Keith Downie has taken to his personal YouTube channel to deliver more bad news to Newcastle United fans as the Alexander Isak situation gets worse.

Downie opened his video by stating how he was supposed to be in Singapore now, following the Magpies on their Asian tour, but after Isak was left behind, Downie had to stay put.

So that suggests that Sky Sports are expecting something to happen with Isak in the near future, and they wanted their man in the North East on site when it does.

It's a bit of a bummer for Downie, who has to stay in the UK rather than flying off to Singapore. What's even worse is that he had to stand in his usual spot on top of the St James' Park multi-story car park and deliver more bad news.

Isak has been unhappy at Newcastle for a while, claims Downie

In his video, Downie says that he and other members of the press were aware that Isak has been unhappy for a while, but they didn't want to spread the negativity if there was no need to. I guess this explains some of his half-arsed performances towards the back end of the campaign.

But now that it's public knowledge, he's revealed that Isak is unhappy after Paul Mitchell refused to negotiate a new deal when Isak felt he deserved one, and also upset that he wasn't given the opportunity to speak to Liverpool after their approach.

This echoes what Craig Hope said earlier in the week, or last week, whenever it was - the days are just starting to blur together now. But it seems that Newcastle have really dropped the ball. Even if it was Paul Mitchell's decision not to negotiate, someone higher up should have realised how damaging that could be and stepped in.

Downie says there's still every chance that Isak and Newcastle can work something out

Keith Downie says there's still a chance it could all be resolved, but also notes that time is running out. In truth, it just felt like Downie was trying to offer some hope to fans, but his feeling is that Isak wants away and Newcastle won't want an unhappy player around the place.

He also reiterates that Liverpool needs to sell before they can afford to buy Isak, and that Liverpool still haven't made a formal approach, so it's nowhere near getting done as things stand.

Benjamin Sesko was mentioned again as a potential target to replace Isak, but at the moment, there's no real indication that it's a deal that gets done. However, Downie is still very confident that Yoane Wissa will sign for Newcastle.

The sooner we have a resolution to this the better for everyone.
