Keith Downie makes bizarre claim as Newcastle United step up search for Alexander Isak backup
Newcastle United desperately need to sign a striker this summer who can put pressure on Alexander Isak and provide adequate backup when needed.
The Magpies relied on Callum Wilson in the last two campaigns, but his poor injury record meant that he was rarely available to pick up the slack when needed.
Will Osula was brought in last summer to add a third option, but it quickly became apparent that Eddie Howe didn't feel he was up to the task.
Now, with Callum Wilson having left the club, the pressure is on Newcastle's recruitment team to give Eddie Howe another option.
Keith Downie thinks Will Osula will be loaned out next season
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie recently said on his own YouTube channel that a striker is the priority for Newcastle after tying up the deal for Anthony Elanga, but then made an odd claim about Osula.
“Once Elanga is in and done, the priority will be to get another striker to compete with Isak.”
“Yes Will Osula is there, but I think there’s a chance there that he may go out on loan at the start of the season.”

I honestly wish I had a quid for every time I've said that we can not go into another season with only two strikers in the squad. We aren't looking to bring in a striker so that Osula can leave, we need one this summer because if we learned anything from our last Champions League campaign, it's that two strikers is not enough to compete on four fronts.
Osula had a few impressive outings as the season wound down and then went off to bag three goals and two assists in four matches for Denmark U21s in the European Championships.
He even returned to training early. Osula is ready to step up for Eddie Howe, it would make no sense to let him leave on loan while we operate with just one striker as backup for Alexander Isak.
