Juventus to offer £43.5m plus Dutch international to tempt Newcastle United to part with superstar
The natural progression has taken place. First were Sandro Tonali's comments about a future return to Italy, then came the inevitable twisting of his words in the Italian media and now we've come to the transfer story.
Newcastle United will not even be entertaining the idea of letting Sandro Tonali leave anytime soon. After already losing Alexander Isak in the summer, the club will be more determined than ever to keep hold of its prize assets, of which Tonali sits at the top of the pile.
Tonali has become the first name on the teamsheet for Eddie Howe lately, as the classy midfielder has proven time and time again just how good he is.
The player himself has spoken very positively about the club and his future here, so there's nothing to suggest that the Italy international is looking for an exit just yet. Of course, he's not going to rule out a return to Italy at some point in the future, but for all we know, he could be thinking more at the twilight of his career than anytime soon.
Juventus will throw in Teun Koopmeiners, along with €50m for Sandro Tonali
However, a new report from Italy isn't letting common sense get in the way of a good story as Juve Live is claiming that Juventus will offer £45.5 million plus Teun Koopmeiners to Newcastle to try and tempt them into letting their star player switch.
Koopmeiners has struggled since leaving Atalanta for Juventus, so it's in their best interests to offload him, which doesn't exactly sweeten the deal from Newcastle's perspective.
Indeed, the 27-year-old Dutchman has zero assists and zero goals in five Serie A outings this season. He does, however, have three yellow cards.
Juventus simply can't afford to sign Sandro Tonali without offering a player plus cash deal
The only way Juventus could ever afford to bring Tonali back to Italy would be by offering a part exchange, but there's simply nobody in their squad who would come close to filling the gap that Tonali would leave, and the extra cash is no use as we can't play a wad of fivers in midfield.
It's a deal that absolutely does not benefit Newcastle in any way, and we're sure that even the journalists/bloggers/pundits in Italy all know this too.
The speculation will never end, of this we're certain. But we're very confident Tonali will be at Newcastle for another couple of years yet. Mind, we said that about Isak, so ...
