We have to give credit where it's due, the Italian media are certainly persistent as they continue to push the idea that Sandro Tonali will return home this summer.

Newcastle United's midfield maestro has become one of the team's best players this season, attracting plenty of eyes from jealous clubs, but it's the Italians who believe that they can get Tonali to turn his back on Newcastle.

Ignoring the fact that Tonali has said he owes so much to Newcastle, the fact that he's worked so hard to learn English and has become such a better player while he's been here, the Italian media will have you believe that he hates his life on Tyneside and he is aching for a return.

We're sure that even the journalists who pedal this narrative don't even believe it, but they love how it gives Italian football fans hope that their prodigal son will return, when in fact, the reality is that there's very little chance.

Juventus made contact with Tonali's representatives to find out the chances of a summer move

This time it's the turn of Tuttomercatoweb , who are reporting that Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has contacted Tonali's people to ask about the chances of a summer move.

While we have no idea what was said, we would like to believe that the answer was simply two words, with the second one being 'all' and the first word beginning with F.

The fact is, no side in Serie A could afford to sign Sandro Tonali now. Taking away any other obstacles like desire or Newcastle rejecting the bid, the fact is that Italian football is in no place for teams to pay the kind of money it would take to sign the 24-year-old.

Newcastle have no need to sell any of their top players this summer - including Sandro Tonali

However, just to make sure Juventus are fully in the picture, Newcastle have absolutely no desire to sell any of their big stars this summer.

After lifting silverware, the aim is to build on that. It's not a case of 'job done, now sell everybody'.

We can never know what's going through Tonali's head; he may actually be unhappy in England and could be pining for a return to Italy, but it's just not that simple. That being said, he doesn't seem like he hates it here; from what little emotion he does show, he generally looks happy.
