Luke Edwards has been a busy little fellow this week when it comes to Newcastle United transfer rumours.

It started with the Telegraph journalist saying that he has a feeling Newcastle will sign someone this week, he's not sure who or when, but has a feeling.

In fairness to Edwards, it looks like he may have been right with Will Osula looking likely to sign very soon.

To add to that, he has also told the NUFC360 podcast on Thursday that he has a couple of names he's not allowed to reveal yet that Newcastle could potentially be signing very soon.

Edwards believes there are more signings to come

Edwards says he's been told that the Magpies are close to signing someone - of course this could just have been regarding Will Osula.

“I think they are close to making a signing. I’ve been told they are close. I’m hoping before the weekend, but that is what I’ve been led to believe something will happen before the weekend.

“Everybody is out in Japan, I know people want a name, I have a couple of names that I have to keep to myself, I’m not 100% certain and I don’t want to write a name that isn’t true, but trying to get anything out of Newcastle at the moment, everyone is trying to keep it a closely guarded secret. I have an idea who it is, but I’m not 100% certain.”

Newcastle will spend 'big money' on two more additions

Osula is a relatively low-cost signing for Newcastle who still need to bring in a centre-back and a right winger to stand any chance of calling this a successful transfer window - although there are a few players who need to be moved on before we can properly bestow that moniker on the summer business.

Edwards still believes Newcastle will bring in the players they need and that they will spend big money to do so.

Let's just hope this signing he mentioned on Thursday is another one after Will Osula (although it does sound like it was Osula he was talking about). Let's just keep the hype train rolling.
